2015 All Star Game, Fantasy Draft Open Thread

Bryan's Preview for Tonight's 2015 NHL All-Star Draft!

Okay, let's be honest with ourselves here Blueshirt Banter, we're all just waiting for this moment to come to us one more time...

It was so gloriously awkward, wasn't it? Poor little Phil.

Tonight is the All-Star Fantasy Draft in which we'll see Rick Nash serve as an alternate captain on Team Toews... which is captained, shockingly enough, by Jonathan Toews. Nash, Toews, and the follicly challenged Ryan Getzlaf will be drafting against opposing captain Nick Foligno, Patrick Kane, and Drew Doughty.

There will be 18 rounds of drafting with three things to keep in mind:

To ensure the final draft picks are not predetermined due to position requirements, each team's three goaltenders must be picked by the end of Round 10 and each team's six defensemen must be picked by the end of Round 15. One trade per team is allowed.

Which, in my opinion, is no fun. If I was Toews I would just select all the goalies like I do in my real fantasy hockey drafts. Leave Team Foligno with Brian Elliott and Roberto Luongo? Printing money, my friends, printing money. So we'll see all the goalies gone by the end of Round 10 and all of the defensemen selected by the end of Round 15. The 6 rookies will be divided like cattle into two groups and a puck flip will determine which captain gets his first pick of the rookies.

Who do you think goes first in the draft? Who goes last? Which goalie will be the first selected? The last selected? Do you think Toews will listen to Rick Nash's input, or will the humorless Chicago Blackhawks captain be immune to the sparkling eyes and non-threatening facial hair of Nash? I'm looking forward to seeing players laugh awkwardly at being selected where they are selected for the entertainment of the fans. This should be fun.

Let's go... Team Toews? That's going to take a bit to get used to. Enjoy the draft, guys and gals.
