If I were to guess, this is about getting Georgiev some playing time, as the Pack have an 11:00 a.m. game tomorrow vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. They are also home on Saturday vs. the Utica Comets and on Sunday vs. the Rochester Americans.
Georgiev’s has performed well in his last two starts stopping 62 of 68 shots faced, and I doubt he is going down for performance reasons.
The Rangers don’t play again until Thursday in Brooklyn vs. the New York Islanders, and then again on Saturday at home vs. the Florida Panthers. The Blueshirts would then play again on Monday November 19 vs. the Dallas Stars.
Theoretically Henrik Lundqvist will start on Wednesday and Saturday, and that would enable Georgiev to get three starts with the Pack before getting recalled to backup him up on Monday vs. the Stars.
