2018 NHL Draft: New York Rangers Select Joey Keane 88th Overall
With their 2nd 3rd round pick (88th overall) the Rangers selected overage defenseman Joey Keane from the Barrie Colts of the OHL. A smooth skating right handed defenseman, Keane put up 44 (12-32) points this year with the Colts in 62 games played this year. Keane is an overager and a re-entry into the draft and while 88 might be a bit of a reach for him, Keane is still a skilled player.
Via OHL Prospects:
I look at Keane and see a defender made for today’s NHL. Smooth skater who can push the pace of attack, but also solid and dependable in his own end. He makes a great outlet pass and rarely seems to turn the puck over. Keane also has a bit of a mean streak and he makes himself difficult to beat in all one on one situations.
Joey Keane goes 88th to NYR. Another one of my favourites. He's a re-entry, but so mobile and slick. His 44 points might even undersell his skill. pic.twitter.com/AyJLFJM977

Probably a little high for Keane, but still not the worst thing in the world to add more skill to the defense pipeline
