2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Day 17 Open Thread
The second round of the Stanley Cup Playoff continues tonight, as the Metropolitan and Pacific Division Finals are set to begin.
For the first time since the 2013 realignment, the Metro finals will not feature some combination of the Rangers, Washington Capitals, and Pittsburgh Penguins. New blood has made it to the second round, as the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders will duke it out in a matchup that NBC executives couldn’t have even dreamed of.
Out west, the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche are both coming off of relatively unexpected first round victories to meet in the second round. The Avs are the second Central Division team to qualify for the Pacific Division finals, and they’ll look to do what the 2016 Nashville Predators couldn’t: knock off the Sharks. Broadcast information is as follows:
Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Islanders: Game 1 on NBCSN at 7:00 PM EDT
Colorado Avalanche vs San Jose Sharks: Game 1 on NBCSN at 10:00 PM EDT
Enjoy the games.
