2019 WJC Gold and Bronze Medal Games Open Thread
The 2019 World Junior Championship concludes today with Team USA and Team Finland competing for the gold medal.
First, Team Russia, who fell to Team USA yesterday by a score of 2-1, will battle Team Switzerland, who lost to Team Finland 6-1, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
Vitali Kravtsov, who was drafted by the New York Rangers ninth overall in the 2018 draft, highlights Team Russia’s forward group. He has six points in six games this tournament. On the other side of the ice will be Nico Gross, who was drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2018, of Team Switzerland. He has one assist through six games.
At 8:00 p.m. ET, the United States will take on Finland for gold. The teams met once earlier this tournament on December 31; Team USA won 4-1.
Finland defeated Team Canada 2-1 in overtime of the quarterfinals, before winning 6-1 over Team Switzerland in the semifinals. Team USA won 3-1 over the Czech Republic, then 2-1 over Team Russia.
Ranger fans will have their eye on K’Andre Miller of Team USA, who the team drafted 22nd in June. Miller has one point in five games.
