Berard was ranked:
- No. 40 by McKeen’s Hockey
- No. 45 by NHL Central Scouting (NA Skaters)
- No. 49 by Dobber Prospects
- No. 59 by Elite Prospects
- No. 68 by Bob McKenzie
- No. 93 by Future Considerations
- No. 97 by Craig Button/
Berard packs high-octane offensive talent into a 5-foot-9 package. He sees an opportunity to shoot, pass, or support, and he immediately acts. He’s a dual-threat attacker with a bit of skill beyond the offence. He layers deception through false signals sent to the opposition with his eyes and through his body language. He works the puck through the defensive triangle.
Here are some additional thoughts on the Rangers’ newest prospect.
Two players from my top 50 - Anton Johannesson (47) and Brett Berard (49) just went 133 and 134

Excellent value by the Jets and Rangers
Extremely skilled winger, can create offense in a lot of ways. Size the big concern. He's one the youngest players in the draft and it's not out of the question that there's room to grow physically.

Brett Berard is FANTASTIC value here. Was one of my favorite targets for the #NYR 3rd round picks. Small but extremely gifted winger with a high motor and very decisive. Very good puck handler and also better defensively than he generally gets credit for. Great value here

This pick certainly appears to be a bit of a steal for the Rangers, which is certainly good for the prospect pool.
Stay tuned for more in-depth information on this pick in the days to come.
