Previously, Drury was the Assistant General Manager and the Director of Player Development for the Rangers while serving as the General Manager of the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers’ AHL affiliate. As the Associate General Manager, Drury will continue in his role as Hartford GM and assist General Manager Jeff Gorton in negotiating trades and free agent contracts.
This is noteworthy as it was recently reported that Drury was considered a top candidate for the currently vacant Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager position but he wasn’t interested in leaving New York.
Scratch NYR AGM Chris Drury as a candidate for the vacant PIT GM job. While he was viewed as a top prospect for the job, and the Penguins had asked for permission to talk to him, Drury informed PIT today he isn’t interested in leaving NYC or the Rangers at this time.
