Adam Edström Recalled to NYR
The elevator game continues, this afternoon it was announced Edström has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The reason behind Edström’s promotion today hasn’t been explained just yet, but the reason he and Rempe were assigned to the Wolf Pack earlier in the month was definitely a combination of cap purposes and ensuring they would be eligible for the AHL playoffs. With the Rangers falling apart in the second half of the game last night, and a few momentum changing mistakes being committed by Jonny Brodzinski, a lot of folks are theorizing this is to allow another player an opportunity and to sit Brodzinski. However, while my opinion is far from official, I would be shocked if this were the case, so dispel the notion for yourself immediately. Laviolette has shown consistent support in his younger and less established players, and that extends to Brodzinski. He may have had a poor game against the Lightning, but you could easily group half the team in that category. It’s more likely a player or two will need some rest and their back to back games this weekend compelled Drury to call in support.
