Adam Fox Placed on LTIR, Filip Chytil Placed On IR
The New York Rangers are going to be without star defenseman Adam Fox for at least 10 games after being placed on LTIR.
Fox sustained an injury during Thursday’s game vs. the Carolina Hurricanes after a collision with Sebastian Aho.
The immediate loss of Fox is a huge bummer, and luckily for the Rangers the injury wasn’t worse. It comes early enough in the year, at a time in which the team has built a considerable cushion, and will force them to try some different things and evaluate the overall makeup of their defense corps sans Fox.
The soonest he can come back is November 29th against the Detroit Red Wings which is coincidentally the Rangers’ last game of the month.
The Rangers will also be without Filip Chytil, another significant loss, for the next 7 days as he’s been added to IR. As a result of Fox going on LTIR, and Chytil going on IR, the team recalled Louis Domingue and Connor Mackey from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Jonathan Quick is starting Saturday vs. the Minnesota Wild, and Domingue will back him up as Igor Shesterkin is a bit banged up. Things were seemingly going too well for the Rangers, and the next month will test them, and potentially bring them closer together as a group as they try and overcome these injuries.
