Boo Nieves is making his NHL debut tonight
This is just his first year as a professional. This is exciting!
Back in 2012, the New York Rangers drafted Cristoval “Boo” Nieves 59th overall. He was coming off of 10 points in 13 games in the USHL, and was going to play hockey for the University of Michigan.
Fast forward four years. Nieves played four years at Michigan, amassing 110 points in 144 games. He made his AHL debut last season with the Wolf Pack, scoring five points in eight games.
This season, he’s played 13 games for the Wolf Pack, scoring one goal and putting up five assists. His six points actually have him third in team scoring; the two above him - Marek Hrivik and Nicklas Jensen - have been playing professionally a lot longer than he has.
And the Rangers are currently rolling. What better time to give a kid his NHL debut?
Here’s a bit of what he did in college:
It’s definitely going to be an exciting night!
