Braden Schneider Out with Upper-Body Injury, Rangers Recall Matthew Robertson from Hartford
With Schneider out the final two games with an injury he's been dealing with for a while, Matthew Robertson is expected to make his NHL debut.

Now that the Rangers are officially missing the postseason, we've started to see a little more transparency into what some of the players have been dealing with. Today the Rangers announced Braden Schneider will miss the last two games of the year.
Braden Schneider will be out these next two games with an upper-body injury, which is apparently something he has been dealing with this season.

Now that #NYR are officially eliminated, they want him to start the recovery process.

The way the team has handled this is a bit concerning. Yes, they have been struggling all season and trying hard to right the ship. But there was a good portion of time when the team was playing nothing but miserable hockey. For management to make the decision that Schneider should play through that to give them their best shot is a misuse of assets and downright terrible development of a young defenseman they have supposedly highly coveted.
In a corresponding move, the team has replaced Schneider with Matthew Robertson, who was recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack today. Robertson will finally make his NHL debut for the team that drafted him in 2019.
Matthew Robertson will make his NHL debut tomorrow for #NYR vs. Panthers, per head coach Peter Laviolette.

Expect Gabe Perreault and Brennan Othmann to play, too.
With both Othmann and Perreault expected to dress in the last two games, it appears Laviolette is finally getting the young kids back into the lineup. It's about time, why the team chose to burn a year off of Perreault's ELC to let him watch from the stands is beyond any of us. Laviolette will be gone after this season, but Drury should have intervened to prevent this recurring decision. However if Drury agreed with it, then the Rangers are worse off than any of us thought. Hopefully the Rangers young guns give us some fun moments to finish off what has been one of the more depressing New York Ranger seasons in recent memory.
