Breaking News: Rangers Announce Jeff Gorton As New General Manager
The New York Rangers will have a new general manager, as Jeff Gorton was officially announced as the teams 11th GM.
There were tons of rumors swirling around today that Glen Sather would officially step down as general manager, and sure enough, here we are. According to an official team release, the New York Rangers have announced Jeff Gorton as the 11th general in franchise history, while Glen Sather will remain with the Rangers as he retains his role as the team President.
This move was expected for quite some time as the Rangers continued to deny permission to speak with Gorton over the summer. Gorton received a considerable amount of interest from teams looking to fill a vacant GM position, and the Rangers realized the time was finally right to promote him. Gorton has done his fair share of work alongside Sather, and he will now have his chance to take on the day-to-day operations of the New York Rangers.
The Glen Sather era for the New York Rangers have finally come to an end, and we'll see what Jeff Gorton has in store for us in the near future.
