Brennan Othmann Assigned to Hartford Wolf Pack
The New York Rangers have sent Brennan Othmann back to the Hartford Wolf Pack, and the team is expected to replace him with another player later on today.
Othmann had a brief 3-game cup of coffee with the Rangers, and he didn’t play as much in the final two games because Peter Laviolette double shifted top-six players to try and get the team back in the game.
The Rangers have a few options in terms of who to call up from Hartford, and with Kaapo Kakko almost ready to return, it is possible that the player could be a veteran like Alex Belzille. Belzille is having a fine season in the AHL and has a line of 11-17-28 in 31 games. In any case, this brief experience of the speed of the NHL game will be beneficial to Othmann in the long run, and now he gets an opportunity to return to the AHL to get as many minutes as he needs.
