Casey Fitzgerald Named Wolf Pack Captain
Some news out of Hartford this morning as Casey Fitzgerald has been named the 15th Captain in Hartford Wolf Pack History.
The Rangers' minor league affiliate has been without an official Captain since Jonny Brodzinski transitioned into a full-time NHLer last season. The Rangers signed Fitzgerald to a two-year, two way contract on the second day of free agency over the summer. The former 3rd round pick (86th overall by Buffalo in 2016) has 63 NHL games under his belt as well as 157 games in the AHL. In just nine games with the Wolf Pack thus far, the North Reading, MA-Native has registered 1 goal and 6 assists for a total of seven points. Not bad at all, especially for a defenseman.
Fitzgerald was already a part of the Pack's leadership group as he dawned an "A" on his jersey alongside fellow AHL-vets Alex Belzile and Anton Blidh. Fitzgerald has leadership experience beyond that as he was the Captain of his Boston College team for two seasons between 2017-19. He will look to lead a deep Wolf Pack team who currently sit fourth in the Atlantic Division of the AHL. They'll host the Syracuse Crunch on home ice tonight before visiting The Rochester Americans and Providence Bruins over the weekend.
