Chris Drury Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension as Rangers President & GM
After a disappointing season, Dolan hands Drury a multi-year contract extension in a sign of faith in his ability to lead the Rangers to success.

Things are always entertaining over here at Blueshirt Banter, as earlier today Chip23 posited his thoughts on how the Rangers should proceed without Chris Drury (or at least with Drury in only one of the two roles he currently occupies), and, oh, how Dolan's ears must've been burning.
In a sign of faith, belief, and commitment to Chris Drury's leadership, the New York Rangers announced today that they had signed Drury to a multi-year extension as the team's president and general manager.

After one of the more miserable seasons this team has had in recent history, there is an even more dramatic offseason awaiting them. For what it's worth, the Rangers have gotten to the Eastern Conference Final twice under Drury's tenure, once as an underdog and another as the league's best regular season team. However, it's easy to argue a lot of this structure and dynamic was there when he inherited the team after Jeff Gorton and John Davidson were fired.
A lot of Drury's decision making under the microscope might be suspect, but this rings true for the majority of the GMs in the NHL. There have been many voices criticizing the environment for players in New York City after this past year so there will need to be concise, specific action with a smidge of transparency to successfully navigate the offseason and locker room issues that have begun to surround the team. One thing this team will need is stability, so Drury's tenure continuing will hopefully deliver that.
