Throughout his career, two things have been consistent for Gabe Perreault: he scores at a prodigious rate, and yet no one fully believes in him. Call it a curse, in a way, to find consistency with two other high-performing forwards in his age group who have steadily followed and played with Perreault for different teams and on various stages, whether that was the United States National Development Team, the World Junior Championship team, or even now for the Boston College Eagles.

Perreault was lucky enough to be part of a high-powered trifecta with Will Smith and Ryan Leonard, but, for some reason or another, was always considered the weakest of the trio. This was seen in the 2023 NHL Draft when Smith went 4th overall, Leonard went a few picks later at 8th overall, but Perreault remained on the board until the Rangers could steal him at 23rd overall. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not complaining about this. The Rangers got arguably one of the best forwards in the draft, and he pretty much fell into their laps, but it shows how little the pinnacle of the hockey world, NHL organizations, valued Perreault.
