Expansion Protection Lists Announced
The Seattle Kraken will have some interesting choices come Wednesday
There’s a new team entering the NHL next season and a new team means another Expansion Draft, which also means another round of teams choosing which players they want to protect from the expansion draft and which to expose. Teams have to protect at least ten skaters and one goaltender from the Draft while exposing the rest of eligible roster. Players with No Movement Clauses are automatically protected unless both team and player agree to waive the clause and first or second year players are automatically protected as well. With all of that being said, the NHL announced the list of players available to the Seattle Kraken for the Expansion Draft, which will be held this Wednesday night.

While there are some eye-raising names available from other teams, where the Rangers are concerned they are notably exposing forwards Colin Blackwell and Julien Gauthier, defenseman Tony DeAngelo, goalie Keith Kinkaid, and newly acquired forward Barclay Goodrow. As for the protection list, the Rangers decided to go with the 4-3-1 method and chose to use their last defense protection slot on Libor Hajek, while also protecting Kevin Rooney. Here are the full lists, side by side.
