Filip Chytil suffered a setback on Friday during a skate at Madison Square Garden, and needed to be helped off the ice according to multiple reports of individuals in attendance. He had been on the ice working on stickhandling, and at some point in time something went wrong.

Chytil recently returned to the US from Czechia where he had been working to heal and condition himself, and this latest news is very concerning and saddening.

According to Vince Mercogliano of Lohud:

“The fears of another head injury have apparently been realized. One person with knowledge of the situation told lohud.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, that a medical evaluation revealed the latest incident was a setback directly related to the suspected concussion Chytil suffered on Nov. 2, although the Rangers have only identified it as an upper-body injury.”

At this point in time the Rangers aren’t saying much other than it being an upper-body injury, and it may be some time until he is given a thorough evaluation and the results of that are shared in some capacity. Chytil’s potential return to the lineup was something many were looking forward to, and at this point hopefully things aren’t too serious and his quality of life isn’t in jeopardy.
