Game #14: New York Rangers vs Carolina Hurricanes Open Thread

After trouncing the lowly Detroit Red Wings less than 24 hours ago, the Rangers are back in action tonight. An overnight flight has brought them to Raleigh, North Carolina, as the Hurricanes are set to welcome them into PNC Arena. Tonight’s meeting will be the first of four this season between these heated Metropolitan Division rivals. The two teams split last year’s season series, with the Carolina narrowly outscoring New York 14-13. Following last night’s victory, David Quinn has opted against making major lineup changes, although it won’t be the exact same group. Lias Andersson will slot back into the lineup tonight, while Henrik Lundqvist gets his second start in as many games.

Player to Watch: Adam Fox

Since he’s been thrown into the group of young Rangers prospects representing the future of the franchise, it can be easy to forget that Adam Fox arrived on Broadway via a trade. After being drafted 66th overall by the Calgary Flames in 2016, the Flames reached a point where they knew Fox has no interest in playing north of the border.

He was included in last summer’s trade that sent Dougie Hamilton and Micheal Ferland to Carolina, and spent his junior season at Harvard as a member of the Hurricanes’ organization. In the midst of their playoff run last spring, Carolina dealt the Long Island native to his desired destination, the New York Rangers in exchange for what will become two 2nd round draft picks. Look for Fox to make an impact against his former-ish team.

Enjoy the game!
