Game #20: Buffalo Sabres vs New York Rangers Open Thread

Cyber Monday has arrived, and the Rangers are set to celebrate the occasion with a tilt against their in-state rivals. The Buffalo Sabres are in town tonight for the second meeting of the three game season series between these New York state foes.

Since these two teams kicked off the 2023-24 campaign against each other in October, the Rangers and Sabres have gone in opposite direction. While the Blueshirts have made their way to the top of the league wide standings entering today, the Sabres once again find themselves on the outside of the playoff picture as November draws to a close in the coming days. After breaking the 90 point mark for the first time since 2010-11 last season, the Sabres’ current 9-10-2 mark leaves much to be desired.

Player to Watch: Nick Bonino

Known mostly for his shot blocking capabilities, Bonino found the back of the net for his first goal as Ranger on Saturday. The two time Stanley Cup champion has been a useful depth piece for Peter Laviolette since the pair arrived in New York over the summer, and the two will do what they can to help the Rangers earn another two points tonight. Keep an eye on Bonino as the Blueshirts look to maintain their winning ways against the Sabres.
