Game #22: New York Rangers vs Philadelphia Flyers Open Thread
The NHL has its Black Friday national TV strategy figured out. Pick any two out of the Rangers, Flyers, or Boston Bruins, match them against each other for a 1:00 PM puck drop, and rinse and repeat every season. As is semi-tradition at this point, the Rangers are in the city of brotherly love for a Black Friday matinee against star rookie Matvei Michkov and the Flyers.
Thanksgiving offered the Rangers a much-needed one day respite from the season. Mired in a four game losing streak, a better effort against the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday didn't do much to stifle any trade chatter. A day away from the rink hopefully did the team so good, as it will need to bring its "A" game to Philadelphia in order to avoid dropping a fifth consecutive game.
Player to Watch: Ryan Lindgren
While Jacob Trouba has been the Rangers defenseman whose name has come up in trade rumors more frequently, Lindgren stands as the defender more likely to be traded. Set to enter unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, Lindgren has had a rough go of things in the early goings of the 2024-25 campaign. Although Victor Mancini is back with AHL Hartford for the time being, his early season emergence has given New York unexpected defensive depth. Keep an eye on Lindgren tonight as he looks to use Friday's game as a springboard to turn his season around.
Enjoy the game!
