Game #23: San Jose Sharks vs New York Rangers Open Thread
After securing a road win in Nashville yesterday, the Blueshirts are back in Manhattan to finish off the second hlad of a back to back set of games. Tonight’s opponent will be a team in the running for the worst team in the league, led by a man Rangers fans know well for be atop the mountain of worst head coaches the NHL has ever seen.
The San Jose Sharks are in town tonight, and David Quinn is set to lead his 32nd-ranked Sharks squad onto the ice tonight. Since struggling and underperforming expecations on Broadway before mercifcully being fired, Quinn currently has the Sharks in the basement of the league. San Jose’s roster is one in need of a makeover to say the least, but bad hockey has evidently become a hallmark of Quinn-coached teams. Jonathan Quick will be in goal tonight.
Player to Watch: Barclay Goodrow
Goodrow began his NHL career as a member of the Sharks, the peak of which was a Game 7 overtime winning goal to knock the Vegas Golden Knights out of the 2019 playoffs. Goodrow would be traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning the following season, and Goodrow found himself as a two time Stanley Cup champion by time he made his way to New York. Keep an eye on Goodrow as the Rangers look to secure what should be, by a longshot, the easiest two points of the season.
Enjoy the game!
