Game #25: New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Open Thread
After falling short in the City of Champions yesterday afternoon, the Rangers are back in action 24 hours later. A 2-0 lead turned into a 3-2 overtime defeat against the Bruins yesterday, and the Blueshirts will look to wash the taste of that defeat out of their mouths today in Newark against the New Jersey Devils.
The Rangers will head into the Prudential Center for the second and final time during the 2019-20 campaign, and they’ll look to avenge the 5-2 defeat they suffered back on October 17th. Alexandar Georgiev is expected to get the start in goal after watching Friday’s matinee from the bench of TD Garden.
Player to Watch: Kaapo Kakko
Kakko went scoreless in his first career game against New Jersey, and the second contest features his second outing against the only player selected ahead of him during the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The two players have put up similar numbers thus far, with Hughes sporting a 4-7-11 stat line through 24 games, while Kaako comes into action today with a 6-4-10 stat line in 22 contests. Although these two are likely to square off four times a season for the majority of their careers, look for Kaako to rue the day the Devils passed over him on the draft floor.
Enjoy the game! And if you’re going to be attending the game, I’ll be there too. I’ll be in section 126 wearing a Mika Zibanejad jersey, and if anybody wants to meet during the intermissions feel free to drop a comment in the thread.
