Game #30: New York Rangers vs Toronto Maple Leafs Open Thread

Another day, another road trip to the north for an Original Six clash. After knocking off the Boston Bruins on Saturday, the Rangers have crossed the border into Canada for a meeting with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs paid the Rangers a visit exactly one week ago, and the score of that game looked to be something out of an NFL-CFL crossover event as Toronto prevailed by a 7-3 score.

The Blueshirts have bounced back from their drubbing at the hands of the Maple Leafs last week, blowing out the Anaheim Ducks at home before going into Boston and securing an overtime victory the following night. Looking to push the winning streak up to three tonight, the Rangers will need a better effort than their last time out against Morgan Reilly, William Nylander, and the rest of Toronto’s high octane offense.

Player to Watch: Blake Wheeler

While it can be tough to highlight anybody that plays well in a game their team loses by four goals, that was the case for Wheeler last Tuesday. Entering that contest with only two goals in 26 games, Wheeler doubled his season total with a two goal performance against Toronto. Keep en eye on Wheeler as he looks to make an impact once again and help his team secure two more points in the standings.

Enjoy the game!
