Game #37: Boston Bruins vs New York Rangers Open Thread
The New York Rangers are undefeated in 2025.
It's a statement that holds true before the Blueshirts take the ice for an Original Six clash with the Boston Bruins, but whether it'll be true by the conclusion of the matchup remains to be seen. New York's latest unproductive road trip was a two game Florida swing that saw the team drop games to the Lightning and Panthers by a combined score of 11-5. The Rangers woes have officially crossed into a six week slump, that being the length of the team's 4-15-0 stretch of play.
As if that wasn't enough, Igor Shesterkin was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday with an upper-body injury, and injury likely suffered when Ryan Lindgren pushed an attacking Florida Panther skater into Shesterkin. Louis Domingue has been recalled from AHL Hartford to serve as the backup, and it'll be the Jonathan Quick show for the time being. Will tonight be the start of the turnaround for Peter Laviolette's squad? Tune in to find out.
Player to Watch: Jonathan Quick
Aside from being designated as an "upper-body" injury, details have been scarce on Shesterkin's injury and subsequent IR placement. While all hope seems lost with the Blueshirts currently 15th in the Eastern Conference and 28th in the overall league standings, the season is less than halfway over. Some strong play from Quick could be the spark the Rangers need to get the train back on the tracks. Keep an eye on the veteran netminder as he begins his stint as New York's starter in goal.
Enjoy the game (if you're not an Optimum subscriber that is, otherwise you're up the creek)!
