Game #39: Vancouver Canucks vs New York Rangers Open Thread
The Rangers have returned from from their brief road trip into Canada, but the action against Canadian teams will continue tonight at Madison Square Garden. It’ll be a rematch of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals as the Blueshirts host Quinn Hughes, Thatcher Demko, and the rest of the Vancouver Canucks.
There’s been plenty of ups and downs for these two teams in the three decades since that fateful matchup, but both teams currently find themselves among the best teams in the NHL. The Rangers enter tonight’s game tied atop the Eastern Conference, while the Canucks find themselves leading the Pacific Division and in second place out west in a year where just making the playoffs would’ve been seen as a positive step for the Vancouver. With Vancouver’s performance thus far, playoffs will be the bare minimum expectation, and both teams see their opponent as a measuring stick for where they’re currently at.
Player to Watch: Adam Fox
Quinn Hughes is one of the top defenseman in the NHL, and he leads Vancouver’s explosive offense from the back end. the Blueshirts have a top defenseman of their own in Adam Fox, having established himself as one of the most cerebral players in today’s game. Keep an eye on Fox as he looks to help the Rangers bounce back from Saturday’s defeat.
Enjoy the game!
