Game #41: New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Open Thread
Fresh off of blowing a three-goal lead and falling on overtime to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, the Rangers are back in action for the latest chapter of the Hudson River Rivalry. The New Jersey Devils are back at Madison Square Garden with an opportunity to clinch the season series against Peter Laviolette's squad.
The Blueshirts have been on the receiving end of blowouts from the Devils in the previous two meetings, and are hoping that the third time will be the charm tonight. It'll be a different lineup than we've seen the past few games with numerous players statuses having changed since Tuesday. Filip Chytil skated on his own on Thursday morning after exiting Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury, but will not play tonight.
Igor Shesterkin was activated off of injured reserve and Louis Domingue was sent back to AHL Hartford, so Shesterkin will get the nod in goal tonight. Matt Rempe's eight-game suspension has been fully served, and the towering forward will draw into the lineup for his fourth career game against the Devils. Rempe has been ejected from each of his previous three games against New Jersey, so we'll see how long he sticks around tonight. Peter Laviolette has opted for one more lineup change, as Jimmy Vesey will sit as a healthy scratch in favor of.....
Player to Watch: Arthur Kaliyev
After being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings, Kaliyev will make his Rangers' debut tonight. The game will also be Kaliyev's first game of the 2024-25 campaign, having suffered a clavicle injury in pre-season and not seeing any game action in Los Angeles prior to being waived. Kaliyev will don #34 for the Blueshirts, so keep an eye on the Staten Island native as he makes his Broadway debut tonight.
Enjoy the game!
