Game #43: New York Rangers vs Colorado Avalanche Open Thread
For the first time since November, the Rangers are on a winning streak. With consecutive wins over New Jersey and Vegas and points in five of the last six games, New York could be turning its season around as the second half begins. It'll be another tough test for Peter Laviolette's squad in the Mile High City tonight against Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and the high flying Colorado Avalanche.
Colorado arrived at the same conclusion as the Blueshirts did many years ago regarding Alex Georgiev earlier this season. Realizing Georgiev was not the long term answer in goal, Colorado shipped the former Ranger to the San Jose Sharks as part of a package to land Mackenzie Blackwood, who has taken over the role. With competent goaltending and and the usual cast of superstars up front, the Blueshirts will have their hands full against this Avalanche team.
Player to Watch: Vincent Trocheck
In the wake of Jacob Trouba's departure, Trocheck has emerged as one of the more vocal leaders on a Rangers team lacking a captain. The veteran forward has shone as one of New York's top players since joining the team in free agency in the summer of 2022, and scored a power play goal in the team's last victory. Keep an eye on Trocheck tonight as the Rangers look to make it three wins in a row and secure a victory on the second stop of this road trip.
Enjoy the game!
