Game #47: New York Rangers vs San Jose Sharks Open Thread

The final leg of the Rangers’ annual California road trip is upon us. After splitting games in Los Angeles and Anaheim, the Blueshirts will head into the SAP Center in San Jose to take on the Sharks in the final game of their west coast swing.

As one would expect of a David Quinn-coached team, (as Rangers fans unfortunately got to know during his time on Broadway) the Sharks are currently among the laughingstocks of the NHL. Currently sitting dead last in the league with 12 wins in 47 games and a ghastly -91 goal differential, those numbers come even as San Jose is in the midst of one of its best stretches of the season. The Sharks are 2-0-1 in their last three games, a three game run that is coming off the heels of a previous 1-14-0 stretch of results. San Jose secured a shootout win on the road in Los Angeles last night, and will be facing off against the Blueshirts on tired legs. If there was ever going to be a lay up on New York’s schedule, this is it.

Player to Watch: Chris Kreider

Kreider has been heating up as of late, as the big bodied winger finds himself in the midst of a four game point streak (2-4-6) and has found the score sheet each game of the current road trip. Against a porous defensive team like San Jose, whose 189 goals against are 20 goals clear of the second worst team in that regard, expect Kreider to find the back of the net and help the Rangers roll to two more points and end this road trip on a high note.

Enjoy the game!
