Game #47: Philadelphia Flyers vs New York Rangers Open Thread
In the wake of their resounding defeat against the New York Islanders two nights ago, the Rangers will look to defend home ice and get back into the win column tonight. Alain Vigneault’s Philadelphia Flyers are in town for the first of back to back games starting tonight. This year’s edition of the season series has been one of the oddest ones the Blueshirts have ever had with a divisional foe.
In spite of outscoring the Flyers 27-16 in six games this year, the season series is tied at three games apiece. Each of Philadelphia’s wins have been by one goal margins, while the Rangers’ victories have come via shootout, 9-0, and 8-3 decisions. With only two games to go, the Rangers will look to win both games in order to win the season series, as well as keep their faint playoff hopes alive.
Player to Watch: Zac Jones
Aftering practicing with the team for the last week and a half following an agreement to an entry-level contract, Jones is set to make his NHL debut tonight. A left handed shot, Jones will be skating on the right side of New York’s 3rd pair, partnered with Libor Hajek. Keep an eye on Jones throughout his NHL debut.
Enjoy the game!
