Game #52: Vegas Golden Knights vs New York Rangers Open Thread
Following a Saturday matinee in Boston that graded out as one of the Blueshirts worst efforts of the season, Peter Laviolette's squad is back in the saddle for the second game of the J.T. Miller 2.0 era.
Playing in his first game as a Ranger in nearly seven years, Miller made an instant impact by finding the back of the net twice on Saturday. Scoring at even-strength and on the power play, Miller left his mark quickly and will look to keep up his pace while hoping his new/old teammates can follow suit. The Blueshirts couldn't get it done on three days rest against a playoff bubble team in the Boston Bruins, so it'll likely be tough sledding against the Pacific Division-leading Vegas Golden Knights tonight.
The Rangers defeated Vegas in their building during the western road swing in January. They'll look to do it again tonight with a slightly different looking team than the last time these two clashed. Jonathan Quick will get the nod in goal after Igor Shesterkin started yesterday and ceded five goals once again, something that's becoming a bit too much of a habit for the team's "franchise" netminder.
Player to Watch: Jonny Brodzinski
While Miller naturally took the lineup spot previously occupied by the now-departed Filip Chytil, Laviolette opted to swap Arthur Kaliyev out for Jonny Brodzinski as well. Aside from Miller's pair of goals, Brodzinski was the only other Ranger to find the back of the net against Boston. Keep an eye on Brodzinski again today to see if he can build off of Saturday's showing.
Enjoy the game!
