Game #57: New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Open Thread
The bi-annual Blueshirts takeover in Newark has arrived. Prudential Center is the site for tonight’s edition of the Hudson River Rivalry as the New York Rangers visit the New Jersey Devils. The Rangers and Devils were both victorious in their respective Stadium Series games over the weekend, but while the Rangers maintained their momentum with a win against Dallas on Tuesday, the Devils spent their Tuesday night on the wrong end of a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of the Washington Capitals.
Both Jimmy Vesey and Artemiy Panarin are question marks for tonight’s game, so the Rangers recalled Brennan Othmann from AHL Hartford in case either player ends up being unable to suit up. The Blueshirts took the first game of the season series with a 5-3 victory in Newark on November 18th, so tonight’s meeting will be the final one in New Jersey of the regular season.
Player to Watch: Mika Zibanejad
Even as the Rangers chug along and go for their ninth consecutive win, the team has some things to work on. One of those things is a need to generate more offense at 5-on-5, and getting Zibanejad going at even strength will go a long way towards getting the rest of the team going. Keep an eye on New York’s top center tonight.
Enjoy the game!
