Game #6: New York Rangers vs Montreal Canadiens Open Thread
As the Rangers played their fourth consecutive Original Six opponent when they take the ice against the Montreal Canadiens tonight, the Blueshirts will also look to make it four wins in a row and wrap up this three game road trip unscathed.
Once upon a time Martin St. Louis was scoring overtime winners in the playoffs against Montreal as a New York Ranger, but tonight will be the first of three times the Rangers square off against the St. Louis-coached Canadiens this season. Montreal remains in its rebuilding phase as Juraj Slafkovsky, Cole Caufield, and Nick Suzuki headline a young roster. New York will look to take advantage of its longtime rival and end the road trip on a high note before returning home for a clash with the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
Player to Watch: Alexis Lafreniere
Previously listed as day-to-day, Lafreniere will suit up for the homecoming game in his native Quebec. The budding superstar has continued his success with Vincent Trocheck and Artemiy Panarin and will look to continue his strong play against Les Habitants. Keep an eye on Lafreniere as he looks to keep his early season momentum rolling.
Enjoy the game!
