Game #63: St. Louis Blues vs New York Rangers Open Thread
The trade deadline has come and gone, and the pre-dreadline New York Rangers are no more. Chris Drury executed four trades in the days following Monday’s loss to the Florida Panthers. While none of the previous roster players were shipped out of town, three new faces have joined the NHL roster, and two of those players are expected to make their Rangers’ debuts tonight.
Those debuts will come against the St. Louis Blues, a team the Rangers had done business with in years past before opting against any trades with them this season. There were murmurs of a potential reunion between Pavel Buchnevich and the Rangers, but Buchnevich stayed put and will be skating against New York tonight. The Blueshirts have been skidding as of late, going 1-2-1 in their last four games after a nine game winning streak, and they’ll look to get back in the win column tonight.
Player to Watch: Alex Wennberg
The first trade Chris Drury made was to send a 2nd and 4th round draft picks to the Seattle Kraken to land Wennberg. The Blueshirts have been in need of a third line center since Filip Chytil was ruled out for the season, and Wennberg was brought in to shore up the team’s depth down the middle. Wennberg will don #91 and make his Broadway debut alongside Jack Roslovic, (acquired from Columbus, wearing #96) so keep an eye on him as he begins his adjustment to New York.
Enjoy the game!
