Game #69: New York Rangers vs Dallas Stars Open Thread
After dropping three of the four games in their recent home stand, the Blueshirts are set to begin a three game road trip that will start in the Big D. David Quinn’s squad is in Dallas tonight to take on Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and the rest of Rick Bowness’ Stars team. After dropping the first game of the season series on Broadway by a 5-3 margin, the Blueshirts will look to split the season series by earning a critical two points to kickstart their road trip.
In spite of getting pulled against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, Igor Shesterkin will be getting his second consecutive start this evening. With tonight’s game serving as the first half of a back-to-back set, expect to see tonight’s game set the tone for tomorrow’s contest in Colorado as well.
Player to Watch: Jacob Trouba
As the Rangers have lost four of their last five games overall, team defense has been an issue. David Quinn’s squad has given up five or more goals four times, and 22 goals in their last five games. If the Blueshirts want to fix that up, they’ll have to lean on Trouba to be the #1 defenseman he was brought to Broadway to be. Look for him to log heavy minutes tonight.
Enjoy the game!
