Game #7: New York Rangers vs Edmonton Oilers Open Thread

The Blueshirts road trip out west continues with another stop on the Canadian province of Alberta tonight. After defeating the Calgary Flames two nights ago during the league’s “Frozen Frenzy”, the Rangers have made their way further north into Alberta to take on Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and the rest Edmonton Oilers.

One player who will not be skating tonight will be Connor McDavid. McDavid will be sitting out tonight’s contest due to a previously sustained injury. With him not in the picture, the Rangers ought to have an easier time keeping a lid on what is otherwise an explosive Oilers’ offense. Peter Laviolette has opted against any lineup changes up front, but Igor Shesterkin will not be starting in goal. Jonathan Quick woll be the man in goal looking to push the Rangers’ winning streak up to three with another victory tonight.

Player to Watch: Mika Zibanejad

Six games into the season, Zibanejad is still on the hunt for his first goal. For all of the offensive firepower the Oilers present, they tend to be a leaky defensive unit. Keep an eye on Zibanejad as he looks to find the back of the net and help the Rangers earn two standings points.

Enjoy the game!
