Game #70: New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins Open Thread
The Rangers are shipping up to Boston for an Original Six matchup tonight. TD Garden is the site for this clash of Eastern Conference titans between the Blueshirts and Bruins as the visitors will be looking for a sweep of the season series with a third victory of the season. The Rangers knocked off the Bruins by a 7-4 margin on November 25th in Boston’s only visit to Madison Square Garden on the 2023-24 campaign, and then earned a 2-1 overtime victory in Boston on December 16th.
While the Rangers’ squad that will take the ice tonight looks starkly different than the group from December thanks to a flurry of trades and recalls, the Bruins haven’t made major changes to their roster. The depth defenseman roulette wheel landed on Andrew Peeke for Boston as it acquired him from Columbus at the trade deadline, and that deal was their only move of significance as potential deals surrounding big name players did not make it across the finish line. Even still, the Bruins sit atop the league wide standings entering play tonight so it’ll be another measuring stick opportunity for Peter Laviolette’s squad.
Player to Watch: Matt Rempe
Rempe was eligible to return from his four game suspension in time for Tuesday’s game against Winnipeg, but the towering rookie sat as a healthy scratch as the Rangers fell to the Jets without Rempe’s presence on the ice. Rempe will return to the lineup tonight, subbing in for Jonny Brodzinski on the fourth line alongside Barclay Goodrow and Jimmy Vesey, so keep an eye on the biggest Ranger on the ice in his return from suspension.
Enjoy the game!
