Game #9: New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals Open Thread
It's another another playoff rematch for the Rangers tonight. Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. is the site for tonight's clash between the Rangers and the Washington Capitals. After qualifying for the playoffs with a win in their final regular season game last season, the Capitals were unceremoniously dumped out of the postseason as the Rangers swept their Metropolitan Division rivals in the first round.
The Capitals are off to a solid start to the 2024-25 campaign, entering play with a 5-2-0 record. After bouncing back from their Thursday defeat against Florida with a Saturday victory against Anaheim, and will look to secure a road win before returning home. Jake Leschyshyn was sent back to Hartford after serving as the 13th forward on Saturday, and Matt Rempe has been recalled after playing in a pair of AHL contests over the weekend. Rempe could draw in with Tom Wilson looming for Washington, so Peter Laviolette will have options to weigh.
Player to Watch: Adam Fox
Fox had an underwhelming showing during New York's playoff run in the spring, largely due to a knee injury suffered during the opening round series against Washington. Fox has returned to form through New York's first eight games, tallying eight assists thus far. Keep an eye on Fox as the Rangers look to make it two wins in a row.
