Game Thread: New York Rangers vs New York Islanders
Can the Rangers finally win a game at the Barclays Center?
The New York Rangers are looking to try and break their winless streak this evening at the Barclays Center as they visit the New York Islanders. Tonight will be the first meeting of the regular season between the two cross-town rivals and it will be for bragging rights atop of the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders (9-6-2) and Rangers (9-7-2) are both deadlocked in points coming into tonight, and the winner will move into a tie with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the top spot in the division.
Thankfully, the Rangers will be getting some injury relief tonight with Mats Zuccarello returning to action after missing the previous three games with a groin strain. The Islanders on the other hand, are trending in the opposite direction as they placed Matt Martin, Casey Cizikas and Andrew Ladd on IR prior to tonight’s contest.
