Game Thread: Rangers at Hurricanes
The Blueshirts are back on the road again tonight
Tonight the New York Rangers will once again be playing a division rival with playoff aspirations. The Carolina Hurricanes have won three games in a row and are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games. It’s also worth mentioning that the Hurricanes are 16-9-2 at home. Yeah, they’re a real bunch of jerks.
Coming into tonight’s game, the Hurricanes are a single point out of the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They are definitely a bubble team, but are expected to be sellers at the trade deadline.
The player to watch on Carolina is Sebastian Aho, who leads the Hurricanes with 67 points in 59 games this season. He had 65 points in 78 games in his sophomore NHL season last year.
The Hurricanes are a great team at even strength when it comes to the shot share. Their 54.94 Corsi For percentage is the second highest in the league. However, Carolina has been held back by their lackluster special teams and goaltending. Will the Rangers be able to capitalize on their power plays and pick up another win this season in front of Henrik Lundqvist tonight? We’ll soon find out.
Please use this as your open thread for tonight’s game.
