Game Thread: Rangers vs Flyers
Rangers hockey is back
The All-Star break is over and the New York Rangers are back in action tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers are 20-23-6 this season, which puts them three points behind the Rangers and New York has a game in hand. Of course, the Flyers weren’t expected to be this far outside of the playoff hunt before the 2018-19 season began. Things have not gone according to plan in Philadelphia.
The Flyers are 9-13-3 on the road. Claude Giroux is their top scorer at 5-on-5 with 34 points (26 primary) in 49 games this year.
Pavel Buchnevich is a healthy scratch for the Rangers tonight. David Quinn has decided to dress seven defensemen tonight, including Brendan Smith and Neal Pionk. Mats Zucarello is also out tonight with a foot infection, but is expected to be good to go on Thursday.
Ok, Rangers are dressing seven D tonight. Brendan Smith is in. Buchnevich is out. “He’s gotta play better,” DQ says of Buchnevich.

Starting with tonight’s game, the Rangers will be playing every-other-day for the next eight games.
Please treat this as your open thread for tonight’s game.
