The 6’1”, 185-pound Thompson has spent the last three seasons in the AHL, and has 582 games of experience over 10 seasons. In that span he’s posted a line of 167-156-323 (0.55 points per game) and played with the WB-Scranton Penguins, Springfield Falcons, Albany Devils, Chicago Wolves, and most recently the Springfield Thunderbirds where he served as team captain for two seasons.
The 31-year-old played college hockey at the University of New Hampshire where he tallied 57 goals and 55 assists for 112 points in 140 collegiate contests.
Thompson also has 24 games of NHL experience between the New Jersey Devils and Florida Panthers in which he’s tallied three points.
His most productive season was a 55-point campaign with the Albany Devils in 2014-15, but he tallied 53 points in 72 games during the 2018-19 season. Thompson plays the game with an edge, and has 732 PIMS, 289 of which have come in the last three seasons.
Thompson’s last contract was worth $675,000 a season, and I’d expect him to come in around that number with the Pack.
