Lundqvist Will Make Preseason Debut Tomorrow Night
Henrik Lundqvist and Mackenzie Skapski will split tomorrow night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. It will be Lundqvist’s first preseason appearance after playing with Team Sweden in the World Cup of Hockey.
Lundqvist posted a .940 save percentage and a 2.25 goals against average in the tournament. He finished with a record of 1-2-2. Sweden was eliminated by Mats Zuccarello’s Team Europe in the semifinals.
We will also get to see some of the most interesting “on the bubble” players in the Rangers’ training camp tomorrow night. Adam Clendening, Brandon Pirri, and Nick Holden will all be in the lineup. So too will Pavel Buchnevich and Jimmy Vesey.

Clendening and Pirri have been incredibly impressive thus far, though we do have to remember that this is preseason hockey. Still, Clendening and Pirri are both making a strong case that they have a lot more to offer than their expected roles of “AHL depth” and a “thirteenth forward”.
#NYR Adam Clendening skated for 24:32 TOI. He recorded two assists and 3 SOG. He has now recorded four assists through two preseason games.

Seeing Pirri, Kevin Hayes, and Buchnevich on a line should be good fun. Lots of offense there and another chance to see Buch and Hayes work together. It also looks like the Rangers are giving Maxim Lapierre a serious look with the injuries to Oscar Lindberg and Josh Jooris leaving uncertainty about who the team’s fourth line center will be.
