Hospital For Special Surgery Receives Much Needed Assist from Artemiy Panarin
Even with the NHL suspended, we’re still seeing Artemiy Panarin assisting and distributing.
The New York Rangers’ leading winger’s helper may be his most important yet. Panarin, as posted by the NHLPA on social media, arranged a delivery of 1,500 3M branded N95 masks to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

3M is one of the many companies who has stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic by using their resources to help support healthcare workers in need.

Along with Panarin, teammate Henrik Lundqvist has shown his support with another charitable action. Henrik and Therese Lundqvist have donated $100,000 to the Food Bank for New York City to help those impacted by this crisis.
Also worth noting is Madison Square Garden’s decision to pay their workers through May 3. By extending through April, it includes what would have been the end of the Rangers and New York Knicks regular season, plus what potentially could have been a few NHL playoff games. MSG also set up a $2.3 million fund help employees in need during this time.
Outside of the Rangers’ realm, the New York Islanders’ players organized a donation of over 3,000 N95 masks to Northwell Health.

Other teams have been contributing as well. The Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks, and Toronto Maple Leafs are among those who have donated food from their respective arenas, and the Tampa Bay Lightning have pledged 500,000 meals to Feeding Tampa Bay.

At the player level, there have been financial donations from players including Sergei Bobrovsky and Marc-Andre Fleury to support arena workers. Jonathan Toews commit $100,000 to the city’s COVID-19 response fund, while Carey and Angela Price have donated $50,000 to the Breakfast Club of Canada’s emergency fund.
Also in the hockey world, Bauer, like 3M, have switched gears to help make protective personal equipment for healthcare workers. The hockey equipment manufacturer has re-purposed their facility to make face shields.
