Lias Andersson Traded to Los Angeles For The 60th Overall Pick
Lias Andersson’s time in New York has officially come to an end.
The New York Rangers announced the disgruntled forward was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for the 60th overall selection in the 2020 NHL Draft.

It had been a roller coaster of a journey for Andersson, who never seemed to find his groove with the Rangers after being selected seventh overall in 2017. Jeff Gorton and the Rangers attempted to bring Andersson back from overseas with an invite to the team’s summer training camp in July, but the now 21-year-old declined the opportunity and opted to remain in Sweden.
There were some head scratching decisions by both parties throughout the years, and in the end, they were unable to find a compromise to continue the relationship in New York. Despite the Rangers’ attempt to mend the issues that have come up along the way, the mutual parting of ways was the most likely outcome.
Andersson completes his tenure in New York having appeared in 66 NHL games with a stat line of three goals, six assists, nine points, and 33 penalty minutes.
