Lindgren Week-To-Week, Scanlin Recalled From Hartford
Well, the good news is that the Ryan Lindgren injury doesn’t seem to be as serious as it may have appeared. The bad news is that he’ll still be out for at least a couple of weeks.
In case you missed it, Ryan Lindgren left yesterday’s game against the Islanders after a brutal collision with Jean-Gabriel Pageau that left him unable to get off on his own power. In a corresponding roster move, the Rangers have announced that they have recalled defenseman Brandon Scanlin from Hartford.
This, along with the Trouba injury, is exactly why you trade for a guy like Chad Ruhwedel at the deadline. Ruhwedel will very likely make his Rangers debut tomorrow night against the Winnipeg Jets slotting into the lineup in Lindgren’s absence. This will be Ruhwedel’s first game since a 6-0 loss to Washington which ended up being his last game as a Penguin.
As for Brandon Scanlin, the call-up comes as another reward for an impressive Sophomore season with the Wolf Pack. The young defender recently re-upped with the Rangers on a two year extension and is in the midst of a career year with 8 goals and 8 assists. He currently leads Hartford’s defense in goals and certainly seems to be developing well with the team’s American League affiliate.
The Wolf Pack are dealing with their own injury battles as Connor Mackey, who likely would have been the Rangers first option as a recall, is still recovering from an upper-body injury sustained last month.
