Mats Zuccarello Contract: Rangers Ink Zuccarello To Four-Year, $18-Million Deal
The New York Rangers finally re-signed Mats Zuccarello.
The final piece of the puzzle for the playoffs has finally been resolved, with Mats Zuccarello agreeing to a four-year, $18-million deal to remain on Broadway.
The full, done Zuccarello deal: 4 years, $18 million, full no-trade in 1st season, nothing in final 3yrs. Salary $4.5 per yr, as is cap hit

The other aspects of the deal (the no trade clause) is mitigated to just one year, which might not seem like a big deal but it really is. If at some point in the future the Rangers aren't as good or wanted to move Zuccarello, they would have that flexibility.
I doubt it comes to that point, though. Despite being a down year in terms of goals an assists, Zuccarello's possession numbers have been fantastic and he continues to be a steady presence of offense for the Rangers. Considering Zuccarello's initial stance of wanting north of $5.5-million, Glen Sather won the stare down and locked up Zuccarello long term for a fantastic cap hit.
This deal should be celebrated, especially because we almost lived in a world without him. And that would have been a cold and dark place to live. Also, there was no way the Rangers were getting fair value for him, so good job by all sides to get a deal done.
