New York Rangers News: Mats Zuccarello re-signs on a 1-year deal
The New York Rangers' leading point scorer from a year ago has finally re-signed.
The New York Rangers and Mats Zuccarello avoided an arbitration hearing scheduled for later this week when they agree on a one-year, $3.5 million deal on Tuesday. The contract and money was first reported by TSN's Darren Dreger, and the term was first reported by Larry Brooks of the New York Post.

— Larry Brooks (@NYP_Brooksie) July 22, 2014 The two sides were scheduled to meet with an arbitrator Friday, July 25. Zuccarello is coming off a career season in which he was the Rangers leading scorer, registering 19 goals and 40 assists.
While Zuccarello took a much shorter term than many expecting, the amount he'll make over the next season is a big discount. This of course will again make Zuccarello a free agent next summer, where the salary cap is expecting to get up yet again.
The Rangers remaining restricted free agents are Chris Kreider, Derick Brassard, and John Moore.
