As Shayna mentioned yesterday when Beleskey hit the waiver wire, the New York Rangers acquired him in the trade that sent Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins before last year’s trade deadline. The Bruins retained 50 percent of Beleskey’s $3.8 million cap hit as part of the terms of that deal. Now that Beleskey has cleared waivers and is buried in the minors, he will carry a reduced cap hit of $875,000 for the Rangers. He is signed through the 2020-21 season.
Matt Beleskey's cap hit with the #Rangers this season is $1.9M. Bruins retained 50% of his salary in the trade that brought him to NY last season.

If Beleskey clears, and is assigned to the minors, he'll continue to count against the Rangers cap at a reduced cap hit of $875K. https://t.co/mpIkOUgL8G
Since being acquired from the Bruins, Beleskey has appeared in one regular season game with the Rangers and has scored six points — only one of which was a goal — in 14 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Hartford’s next game is on Oct. 27 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
