News broke much earlier today, it is the holiday season so pardon our tardiness, that Matt Rempe will have an in-person hearing following his high hit on Miro Heiskanen.

Rempe can be suspended six games or more for his latest infraction, and likely will be receiving a sizable suspension as a repeat offender. Last year Rempe was suspended for four games following an elbow to Jonas Siegenthaler of the New Jersey Devils, and this latest elbow could keep him out of the lineup for the immediate future.

The Blueshirts have two more games until the holiday break, Sunday vs. the Carolina Hurricanes and Monday against the New Jersey Devils. With the holiday roster freeze currently in effect, the Rangers will not be able to recall another player to take his roster spot, but luckily they have players who can step in for him.

Rempe was having a very effective game prior to the hit on Heiskanen, and it is unfortunate that progress was derailed. This had been an opportunity for Rempe, and it appears that it has been squandered for the interim.
